Case Study - Gillette Corporation
 


Overview
Gillette headquartered in Boston MA, is the largest manufacturer and distributor of razors and related products.

Requirement
In response to a corporate mandate to decrease the organizations dependency on mainframe applications and mainframe related hardware, Gillette began an initiative to update their production printing functionality.

Solution
Gillette needed to consolidate their print operations and reduce dependencies on their MVS mainframe. Working with Xerox, ASE installed a DocuConvert Standard solution along with two new DP90 printers. The new printer’s reduced footprint provided similar output while ASE’s DocuConvert allowed Gillette to continue printing existing mainframe reports without costly IT investment. The new system also provided a way for Gillette to print invoices off an SAP system on their newly acquired Xerox printers.

ASE's DocuConvert, spools data off the Mainframe using BARR spool, transforms the LCDS data to PostScripts and then distributes the print data to either of the two DP90 printers.
