Requirement
Advantage Payroll was searching for ways to improve their client packet distribution process and increase Customer Support by providing Customer Support Reps with access to electronic documents. The current packet distribution process involved the manual and costly sorting and distribution of client packets, numbering between fifteen and twenty pages. The information was sent to several printers in large HP PCL print streams. Each print stream contained a specific part of the client packet. For example, cover letters were in one print stream and closing statements were in another print stream. After the print streams were printed, the company had to manually collate the pages into client packets, which were then mailed to their clients. Each packet was then copied, bond and then archived. With thousands of pages to collate and thousand of
man-hours per job, Advantage Payroll was looking for a more efficient print process.

Solution
Using ASE DataPrep IServer, Advantage Payroll is able to implement a process that breaks up the data
streams into individual documents and distributes the packets to several HP printers and to FileNet for archiving. By using the client number and an ordering code, as the file name, the documents are collated, concatenated together by client number and copied. One copy is distributed for printing while the other is sent to a FileNet solution for archiving. The number of printers and the number of files that are sent to each printer is defined by the user allowing for load balancing across multiple printers.
